Theses requirements

Students are strongly suggested to comply to the following standard for the layout of their master's thesis:

All bound copies of the thesis must incorporate:

  1. front page,
  2. statement of originality,
  3. dedication (if any),
  4. famous quotation as introduction to the thesis (if any),
  5. table of contents (graphs and/or tables, if any),
  6. summary
  7. introduction
  8. text of the thesis divided into topics (chapters) preceded by a short but comprehensive title,
  9. conclusions
  10. acknowledgements,
  11. bibliographic references (and internet references, if any).

The student must comply to the system of quotation and referencing in use in the U.S. or in Great Britain, or to any other system of their choice, provided it be one, scientific and used correctly throughout the whole thesis. Students using mixed, improper, unclear systems of quotations and references will not be admitted to discussion and his/her thesis rejected.

The student whose mother tongue is not English is strongly advised to have a specialist in English to check the thesis before printing it and he/she must make sure that his/her thesis does not show any weakness in the language used and are free from spelling mistakes, otherwise he/she will not be admitted to discussion and his/her thesis rejected.

Thus a possible suggestion would be that of becoming familiar with the standards of the University of Bologna for theses, applying them for all the papers you will have to hand in during this first year of study in Forlì. A thesis stile-sheet is being prepared and you will find it on our web site.

The word count of the thesis is best if made on the text and footnotes and should be no less than 30,000 words.
