The Interdisciplinary Master's in East European Research and Studies is a two-year intensive program, combining an academic nature with professional training on Eastern, Central and Balkan Europe. Unique in Italy and Europe, the Master's is launched by the Forlì Campus of the University of Bologna with the cooperation of a network of 30 Universities. Students will be prepared to become Area Experts, after studying one language, following modules in different disciplines, and spending a minimum of 6 months in the country of their studies.
The MIREES international dimension is an added value of the program.
Applicants to the MA Programme are required to hold at least a BA degree in: Political Science, Law, Economics, Agriculture, Foreign Languages, Social Sciences, International and Diplomatic Sciences, Communication Science, Italian Language and Culture, Training and Education Science, Arts and Philosophy. Foreign students with degrees in similar fields from BA level upwards, or comparable academic qualifications, are also admitted.

The students' performance will be assessed for each course or seminar in a variety of forms (written exams, oral exams, tests, academic papers) in accordance with the decision of each professor or, respectively, lecturer, under the general rules established by the Coordination Council.
MIREES verifies every year the quality of the programme and its achievements. The main aim is to increase the teaching quality, the organization and the administration of the Master.
In view of the final part of the learning activities and deepening the knowledge of the languages involved, students are required to spend during the second year of the program a minimum of 5 months at one of the Universities included in the MIREES Academic Network...
Each student is required to write a Master's thesis between 30,000 and no more than 40,000 words.
The Master's thesis must prove to be an independent treatment of the theme dealt with by using scientific methods. It must have a scientific character and be the result of research work.
Defense sessions take place once a year (normally at the beginning of October). By mid September the students who handed in their thesis according to the requirements listed in the "Regulations" of the Master's program are admitted to defense and will be notified the time and the set-up of his/her defense commission. As a general rule, the defense commission is made up of three members: the student's mentor, his/her second reader and a chairperson chosen among the MIREES or partner universities' teaching staff.
The total fee for the Master's two-year period is of ¤ 8,000.00 and is to be paid in four instalments.

The "Regulations" determine the studying conditions for the student as well as the conditions of payment of the enrolment, tuition fees, the programme of instruction, the evaluation and grading system in use in Italian University and in the Master's MIREES, the Diploma and the Management.
